Cover all the angles with this gem of a slim-fitting stretch trouser. The comfortable high waist coordinates with a variety of tops. Angled front pockets hold your stuff in style. Choose your own adventure at the waist - a hidden elastic channel provides comfort without that "elastic waist" look. Or level up your sewing skills with an invisible zipper.
View A features a designer-look diamond-shaped inset at the hem. Try topstitching, embroidery or color-blocking to make it pop.
View B features a classic split hem and minimal topstitching for a dressier look.
See images for full size chart and fabric requirements.
Difficulty: suitable for sewers of all abilities from beginners to advanced sewers.
Materials and Supplies
- Knit fabric (see below)
- Matching thread
- A stretch or ballpoint sewing machine needle
- About 1 yard/meter of knit interfacing for the waistband facings and zipper area
- Some adhesive tape to assemble one or two large paper pattern pieces
- Waist option 1: One 7" (18 cm) invisible zipper
- Waist option 2: Some 3/4" (1 cm) elastic
Recommended Fabrics
The Diamond Hem Trousers require stretch ponte, heavy stretch jersey, high-stretch denim, or other fabrics with at least 50% stretch in one direction, and a bit of stretch in the other direction. The fabric does not need to stretch 50% in both directions. See the materials chart for a list of everything sewers needed to make these trousers.

About Style Falcon
Style Falcon sewing patterns are thoughtfully designed for women of menopause age and beyond, enabling them to create a handmade wardrobe that fits their bodies and their lives, without the hassle of adapting patterns designed for much younger bodies.
Unlike most sewing patterns, Style Falcon patterns are drafted for a mature figure - not a youthful hourglass figure. That means:
- Little bust-to-waist definition
- Lower bust points, for a “C” to “D” cup
- More room at the tummy, hip and sleeve bicep
- Center-back seams, with rounded back and forward shoulder shaping
- For people about 5’4” (about 163 cm)
