Emile is a women's elastic-waist pants sewing pattern, available with a straight or barrel leg and offered in sizes 0 to 32.

Designed for confident beginners, Emile is an elastic-waist pants that balances comfort and character. Simple to sew yet far from basic, it offers an approachable introduction to trouser-making while allowing you to create a garment with a strong identity.

With its 7/8 length, straight or barrel leg, mid-rise waist in Size Range 1 and high-rise waist in Size Range 2, Emile features a clean, structured silhouette. The vertical seam running along the leg defines the design, while the pockets inserted between this seam and the side seam add both function and a distinctive graphic touch.

Fabric Recommendations

For a structured yet comfortable result, choose light- to medium-weight stable fabrics, with a weight of around 120 to 220 g/m².

Recommended fabrics include:

Cotton poplin, chambray, denim or lightweight corduroy, linen / tencel blends, or cotton / tencel blends.
Avoid overly fluid or slippery fabrics, such as some lightweight viscose or very drapey tencel, as they will not hold the shape of the pants and may make sewing more challenging.
