New: Free Pickup Options
We hear you: shipping is expensive! You find a great source for something you need, only to realize that they aren't quite local enough for you to do free pickup. But it feels wasteful to pay for shipping when it's sooo close!
That's why Spool & Spindle have teamed up with Shoppe & Tailor Studios in Toronto to provide a free pickup location for your printing! Every 2 weeks, we will send a folded bundle of orders to Toronto, and you can pick them up at the studio anytime they are open.
Location: 428 Ossington Ave, Toronto (Ossington & College)
Pickup Hours: Drop-in Thursdays 10am-2pm and Fridays 2pm-5pm, or contact the Studio to confirm their opening hours
Schedule: Place your order by 11am every second Tuesday, starting January 9, 2024. The bundle will ship Tuesday afternoon, for pickup starting by Friday.
How to:
- Place your printing order on our website as usual.
- When you check out, select "Ship" for delivery.
- On the next screen, enter your address, then scroll down to the list of shipping options: Select "Toronto Pickup", with the date of the next shipment.
- If there are any order questions or issues, the team here at S&S will contact you. Otherwise, the order will be printed and shipped with the next bundle!
- You will get a message from us when the package arrives in Toronto, so you know when you can pick up.
Shoppe & Tailor Studios is all-around a great resource for sewists: they hold classes and sew-a-longs for garment sewists, have workspaces that you can use on a regular or one-time basis, and have specialized equipment to rent for your occasional tool needs. They also sell a selection of notions, for your last-minute sewing needs.
Don't want to buy a post bed machine just for one project? Want to try out a serger or cover-stitch machine before investing in your own? Don't have space at your home for a large worktable? They have you covered! And their social nights are super inclusive and welcoming, if you just want some company while you sew, or someone to help you pin a garment that you can't quite reach yourself.

Another pickup option is the KW Garment Sewists Guild meetings! This new group of Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph garment sewists aims to keep our community connected with regular in person and online meetings, sew-a-longs, and a Discord server for chatting between meetings.
They hold monthly meetings Sept-May, and for all in-person meetings, you can place an order up to the day of the meeting for free delivery! Just choose the Free Local Pickup option when you place your order, and either add a note or send an email to let us know that you'd like meeting pickup. We'll try to remind you on Instagram or our newsletter as the meetings approach.

And of course, your main source for pickups is the printshop at 35 Dekay St, Kitchener. The drop-in hours are short right now, but we are often available for pickup appointments at all hours of the day. Just send us an email to ask! Here are the details.
